Western Pressure Controls offers top quality wireline tools and downhole tools to suit all slickline applications you may encounter. Head to your lease prepared. Established in 1972 WPC has proudly served the national and international wireline communities and markets, providing reliability, quality, durability and great service. If you require crossover unions, re-entry guides, tubing couplers or flanged unions we have quick manufacturing times, if its not on the shelf to get the job done. WPC has many stock products and if you are looking for something we don’t have, that’s fine if you have the time we can design, prototype and build to suit your application.

Here is everything you need to know about our crossovers and tubing tools:

Crossovers are typically threaded connections that are of the same or different threads to form a thread variation generally to reconfigure a tool string, tubing string or other application with threaded unions on either end. At Western Pressure Controls, our crossover unions are available in several formats typically

Most of common threads include:

  • American Petroleum Institute (A.P.I.)
  • Internal Flush (I.F.)
  • National Pipe Thread (N.P.T.)
  • Line Pipe (L.P.)
  • EUE and NUE (8 Round)
  • STUB ACME (S.A.)
  • Macaroni Thread (M.T.)

WPC – Re-Entry Guide

This is the first item in the well “hole” threaded to the bottom of the tubing, intended as the leading “edge” coupler at the end of the tubing to be ran in the hole. The re-entry guide minimizes issues associated with hitting washouts, rock ledges, or other obstructions encountered in the wellbore as the tubing string is lowered into the well prior to further wireline operations. The re-entry guide is designed to also allow the wireline Rope Socket and connection to be pulled back into the tubing string; in the case the wireline tools have been lowered out beyond the depth of the tubing. Hence the title (Re-entry guide) the internal threads are machined out leaving a tapered, beveled section inside the collar giving a low-profile edge

WPC – Half Mule Shoe – WPC style coupling has a cut away less than center at an angle of 45 degrees. Other angles and full mule shoe styles are also available upon request

WPC – Saw Tooth – The saw tooth model has been cut into the bottom of the coupling to break up debris in the well.

At Western Pressure Controls, we offer reliable and safe crossover and tubing equipment for those in the downhole community, both nationally and internationally. To learn more about our tools, or to talk with our knowledgeable staff, contact us today! We look forward to hearing from you.

What Is Wireline and How Does It Work?

Wireline, also known as slickline is the line used to perform a variety of maintenance services in oil and logging industries. Some of these services may include measuring well depth, retrieving and setting plugs or safety valves, closing and opening downhole circulating devices, and running and pulling flow control devices. From the top-tier wireline manufacturers at Western Pressure Controls, here’s everything you need to know about wireline:

How Does Wireline Work?

These cables consist of single or multi-strands of line some use electrical currents and are used for formation evaluation operations, well interventions and logging. Wireline tools help transmit useful data about the well to an above-ground system. These tools are used to measure the dimensions, sonic properties of the wellbore and gather data crucial to maintaining efficient, effective operation of gas or oil well.

At Western Pressure Controls we provide a variety of Wireline tools for domestic and international wireline operations

WPC – Reliable and Effective Packoff Equipment – Available from Western Pressure Controls

Western Pressure Controls offers top-notch packoff equipment, guaranteed to last. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, we serve the wireline community around the world, providing unique and durable products. With experience in both manufacturing protocol and field application, our customer support team has the expert knowledge to advise you on which packoff equipment best suits your individual needs.

What Is Packoff Equipment?

Packoff equipment consists of elastic like and flexible seal housings and sealing elements; used to seal irregular surfaces like worn or pitted tubing, ran with wireline equipment to be and engaged at decided depth in tubing bore where a profile nipple is not available.

Western Pressure Controls offers two kinds of packoff tools:

This tool is designed to isolate the well pressure inside the tubing preventing the gases to release into the atmosphere (surface) and is primarily used in deteriorated or damaged tubing where a conventional plug cannot be used. Generally well configurations are required to have a profile nipple for landing and positioning a Locking Mandrel type plug. Incases the profile is damaged, none excitant or simply can’t be used due to the well maintenance operations being completed. This style doesn’t have anchoring slips, as they are ran separately as a Tubing Stop*

The WPC G-packoff tool has many configurations and applications that can be utilized for array of various purposes. The G packoff has been recently used more and more for a plunger lift style of configuration; which allows the wireline unit to set and unset the bumper spring platform; allowing the tool to be moved up and down the wellbore and set at the optimal depth as production of fluid increases or decreases

The tool is available in several configurations to suit your specific requirements

Plugs and Packoff equipment is often used in harsh corrosive environments; for this reason, it’s crucial all packoff tools are manufactured with only top quality materials that meet or exceed NACE spec (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) At Western Pressure Controls, we provide long-lasting products you can trust; for more information about our packoff equipment speak with one of our experts contact us
